LMS International announced the latest in a series of steps to expand its market presence in the US and grow North American business 30% in 2000.
In its most recent move, the company appointed Marc Boonen General Manager of North American Operations. Boonen has been with LMS since 1989 and was previously International Sales and Marketing Manager. In that capacity, he developed a worldwide network of distributors to expand the company's global direct sales activities and established LMS operations in China.
"LMS has the broadest range of integrated test and engineering analysis solutions available from any single source," said Boonen. "I look forward to using these capabilities as a foundation in building the North American operations into a full solutions provider of functional performance engineering."
"Moving Boonen to this position is one more indication of our strong commitment to the North American market," said Tom Curry, LMS Corporate Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Our strategy is to expand operations in meeting the growing software and service needs of manufacturing companies as they progress toward an integrated approach to product design, analysis and testing."
According to Curry, Boonen's appointment is the latest step in plans to ramp up LMS operations in North America. The company recently established a new engineering consulting group in Detroit aimed primarily at projects in the automotive industry including noise/vibration/harshness (NVH), durability, ride and handling refinement. At the same time, LMS also formed a strategic alliance with Michigan-based automotive testing specialist Sika Corp to use their new $8 million testing facilities. In 1998, LMS announced the strategic acquisition of Iowa-based CADSI, a leading supplier of multibody mechanical simulation software.
