设计工程团队使用LMS Virtual.Lab开发飞机机身和起落架
中国领先的航天航空研究机构—中航第一飞机设计研究院(FAI)，利用LMS Virtual.Lab多项产品支持其先进的支线喷气式飞机项目（ARJ21）的开发。FAI开发ARJ21型飞机是为了满足中国市场对空中运输的需求，该机种可容纳100名乘客，还可以改型为货机、商用机、加长型和拓宽型。最近，FAI利用LMS Virtual.Lab仿真技术，支持飞机机身和起落架系统的设计和制造。FAI使用的LMS解决方案包括：LMS Virtual.Lab Structure结构分析，用于有限元前后处理，驱动Nastran等外部求解器；LMS Virtual.Lab Motion多体动力学，用于部件和子系统的动力特性仿真；LMS Virtula.Lab Acoustic声学模块，用于内部和外部噪声分析；以及LMS Virtual.Lab Optimization优化模块，用于设计比较方案的自动评估。FAI的设计者和工程师们通过首次使用LMS Virtual.Lab软件的体验，高度评价软件的无缝集成的特点：能够将不同的应用程序紧密地集成在一个单一的用户环境中。而此前，在单独运行一项仿真试验时，常常需要花费大量的时间和精力，用于数据传输，不同软件包之间的模型建立，以及重新进行仿真建模。LMS Virtual.Lab将不同的仿真试验流程一体化，从而增强了仿真结果的可靠性和准确性，并提高了处理流程整体的效率。
在飞机开发项目的全过程中，LMS Virtual.Lab和飞机设计常用的CATIA V5的无缝集成也使FAI受益匪浅。“通过使用LMS Virtual.Lab，设计师们现在可以很容易并有效地使用熟悉的CATIA V5用户环境进行部件分析，无需复杂的专用分析系统。”FAI工程部副经理，宁振波博士说，“尽管引进LMS Virtual.Lab才一年多，但是它的CAD功能和不同仿真准则之间的交互功能给我们留下了深刻的印象。这使得我们能够进行更多次的反复设计，在更早的开发阶段优化我们的设计，并且大大缩短整个开发周期。”
