Aero-Acoustic Modeling

After the significant reduction of primary noise sources, such as road noise or engine noise in cars, engineers today are faced with the complex task of reducing flow-induced noise of all sorts, in all sectors. The Aero-Acoustic Modeling solution helps engineers to accurately predict and solve aero-acoustic noise problems, ranging from fan noise in electrical appliances to turbulence-based noise in aircraft.

Aero-Acoustic Modeling uses a pragmatic approach to predict aero-acoustic noise, based on aero-acoustic analogies. It derives the equivalent aero-acoustic sources starting from the flow equations calculated with ANSYS CFX, FLUENT or STAR-CD. It then calculates the resulting radiated or scattered noise using BEM (Boundary Element Method) technology.

This efficient and cost-effective solution only requires modeling the boundary of the system, resulting in relatively small acoustic models that are easy to create, handle and check, yet providing accurate solutions to real-life problems. Powerful post-processing tools enable engineers to analyze and visualize the results for acoustic refinement.
